Roby Rays Swim Team
Frequently Asked Questions
How old do you have to be to sign up for the swim team?
Children as young as 5 can join this swim team. However, they must be able to swim a length of the pool unassisted. The oldest age division is 15 and up.
I don't know all of the strokes, can I still join the team?
Yes! It's not necessary to know all the strokes. In fact, most people in their first year of a swim team are not skilled in the strokes. You'll learn everything you need to know about the strokes at practice. You do, however, have to be able to swim a length of the pool unassisted.
Do you have to know how to dive?
No. Many of our younger swimmers just jump off of the side or off of the block at the first meet. You'll find by the end of the season, most kids are diving pretty well!
When are the meets held?
Most meets are held on Monday evenings during June and July.
Do I have to wear a cap?
No. Swim caps are optional.
Do I need to be a member of the Robesonia Pool to be on the swim team?
Yes, you do. This is a requirement of the Berks County Swimming Association. By having this rule, it makes certain that teams are not stacking their rosters. Having the teams compiled from their membership insures fairness for every swim team. There are membership options available, so visit the membership section of the the pool website.
